You're talking about two different things. Bitcoin has a symbol (stylized B) and the BTC abbreviation. Now we have Bitcoin Cash with a different stylized B symbol (good) and two abbreviations, BCC and BCH (not good). The US dollar has 1 abbreviation, USD. If some exchanges started using UXD or USC in its place, that would be confusing to some folks.

I'm just pushing for a quick agreement as to help public perception and acceptance. Yes, those of us who have been in crypto for years know the difference, but that's not enough. Just the replies here show that even in this subreddit there isn't a general consensus. There needs to be one.
