I am just curious to see everyones read speed of their plots while mining. I have recently switched my hard drives to a different computer and my read speeds were cut in half and my total read time doubled. I was getting around 125Mb/s and now I get 60-70Mb/s. I was using USB 3.0 and now I am using Sata II. In the Blago miner on the bottom left it shows the speeds that it is reading the plots, if anyone could post their speeds below I would really appreciate it. Also if anyone knows how important it is to get the plots read as quickly as possible, I am curious if doubling my read times is hurting my deadlines at all. The Bandwidth of SATAII is half of SATAIII and USB 3 is closer to SATAIII. USB 3 = 640MB/s Max. USB 2 = 60 MB/s Max.

USB 2.0 has a limit of 34 MB/s for e.g. I can't give you exact numbers for the other ones, but they are definitly slower too. @ I have the same issue with blago's miner (CPU) vs. Jminer (GPU). Blago's miner gives me something around 60 MB/s while jminer gives me about 120 MB/s with the completely same setup (1x 8 TB HDD). Both, CPU and GPU are an AMD A8-7670K (R7 GPU cores are integrated and sharing 1 GB of RAM as pseudo NVRAM).

Sorry if quoting the Specs of different connections is wrong. But the answer remains the same. You can't get the same amount of anything if the pipe is smaller.

Experience Points XP What To Mine more. Hi everyone, Thanks for all the replies. To follow up this a little bit I will explain what happened in my situation. I was getting slower read speeds through USB 3.0 than through my internal Sata drives. Or at least that's what I thought was happening.

After switching to my new mining rig I was only using internal drives and I was getting slower Mb/s in the bottom left of the miner. I opened up my external drives in order to extract the drives and convert them over to Sata. So my first mining rig used both USB 3.0 and Sata. After buying another external drive for my second rig my read speeds went back up while using both USB and Sata. So my conclusion is that the miner is summing up all of your drives read speed whether it is USB or Sata and combining them into the lower left corner of the miner.

But the answer remains the same. You can't get the same amount of anything if the pipe is smaller. Your posted specs are fine, but the difference between the specs and real bandwidth is a lot higher for USB than for SATA (USB protocol has a higher overhead than SATA, but it isn't the overhead only).

I wouldn't sign a paper stating the real bandwidth of USB 3.0 is closer to SATA3 than to SATA2. With SATA2 you can get a real speed of about 280 MB/s (maybe a bit less). If the real speed of USB 3.0 is also cut in half as for USB 2.0, then USB 3.0 is much closer to SATA2 than to SATA3. I fully understand the differences in bandwidth and how that effected it. I was using both Sata and USB and was getting fast read speeds. Then went strictly to just Sata and the speeds diminished. Then went back to Sata and USB and it increased again.

I would also like to point out that every time I add a new USB drive my Mb/s increase in the miner. The times are still the same for each drive but the SUM of Mb/s in the bottom left increases.
