Over the summer ETH was very profitable and AMD RX4/580 cards were impossible to find due to miners buying them up. Today it's worse, but still sort of profitable. If you live in the northern hemisphere it's getting cold out (at least here in KS) so mining could be a way to heat your room while receiving some reward. Heat is heat, a GPU is just as effective at converting electricity to heat as an electric heater for the given amount of power consumed. Heaters don't make free money though. • • • • • • •. Long answer: Mining is a zero-sum, competitive arms race. When we went to AuxPoW, we secured our coin with all the Litecoin hashpower. When the LTC price exploded, so did the amount of hashpower mining it, and therefore, Doge. You would now be competing with 30 Terahash of other miners. To give you an idea, I have 4 MH/s of Gridseeds which have been crunching away for years. I used to get 1 LTC about every 10 days. It now takes over a thousand days to earn the same amount.
